QuestionsQ1 I’m a kid; what’s the difference between living healthily and not? It’s like, what you do and what you guzzle. Here are a couple of easy clues… Eating ten tons of chips a week, drinking fizzy drinks and watching loads of telly are unhealthy. Playing footie or netball, eating stuff like fresh veg and drinking fruit juice are healthy. Q2 So….?Chances are, if you’re a healthy kid you’ll become a healthy adult and then should get more of a chance of living a bit longer. Q3. Am I bovvered?Possibly not… but one day you might wish you had been. Q4. Why’s Juice Patrol supposed to be healthy?Several reasons – it’s a mixture of fruit juice and natural spring water and it’s got none of the weird chemicals that you get in other drinks – especially some other kids drinks. Q5. Chemicals – yuck! What chemicals?Oh loads! Like ones that add bright colours to make drinks look tastier, ones that make them taste sweeter and ones that preserve them to stop them going mank. Q6. Who’s going to win the Premiership this season?Probably not Hull City. But Liverpool’s in with a chance this year – it’s all up to Torres! Q7. Yes, well back to the chemicals …. So what are E numbers then?Every additive in food and drink gets given an E number, both ones that are chemically produced and ones that come from natural things (like elderberries) – which posh people call “Anthocyanins” and drunk people don’t – because it’s impossible to pronounce that word after a few drinks. So some E numbers are OK and some are a bit dodgy. Q8. Should my brain be hurting now…? ‘Cos it is!Yes it should be. All this stuff about additives, E numbers and the like is guaranteed to muddle most people including rocket scientists and brain surgeons – unless of course this kind of stuff floats their boat. Q9. So are E numbers OK then – or not?The law says Yes. But now lots of scientists and intuitionalists are saying that some E numbers don’t do kids too many favours – such as preservatives, artificial colours and artificial flavours. So now people are saying “well if in doubt, let’s just avoid them”. Q10. On the Orange & mango flavour, it says there’s no brussel sprouts in the drink. Why? Doh! Everyone knows they don’t go with oranges and mangos! If you’ve got any more questions you’d like to ask please send us an email thingy. |
